This Moment- A Friday ritual.
A photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment you want to pause, savour and remember. “This Moment” is a ritual found on Life inspired by the Wee Man which I then kidnapped from Almost there by Sarah-Jane.
And borrowed often from whomsoever is carting it around. But a great idea and credit to the originators.
My Moment is a favourite photo dedicated this week to my craft. Taken outside my workshop door.
Dedicated to all the birds in our area who have died during our last fortnight's extremely high winds. 1,000's of seabirds ( and other species ) have perished, blown away from their usual areas and unable to feed, have died of exhaustion on our beaches.
Here you see a male Blackbird wooing 2 females. New life beginning at my doorstep.

It's beautifully captured Jim... except for that hollow space in between. I guess that allows for a ground of interaction between the birds... Lovely!
So sad about the birds and I'm sure other wildlife. Around here they are just confused about which season it is as are the people. great moment.

He's a very hopeful wee blackbird male though Melissa and Jan! Notice how one female is standoffish, and the other is looking interested?
So who's going to get to go home with him?
i open my eyes with the call of birds. it is sad to know that they are in danger. but nature has it's own way of expanding. wish the male and the females all the best for their future life. let there be two couples, may be one male is yet to join.
I need a bird right now... and no I didn't swear lol

When I looked out there were 5 females in a circle and the male in the centre doing his thing, hoping to interest them with offerrings of cherry guavas and puffing himself up. So went and got my camera, but girls can be callous at times. 3 flew off!
Hi Sheril, high winds happen often here in NZ so it's not unusual. Just this time they went on unabated longer than usual.
It is amazing how we can get so much enjoyment out of the common birds outside our window. Especially after watching the fabulous birds of Botswana!!(saw your post) I'm sorry you lost so many due to the heavy winds. Sad.
A two-timing blackbird, huh? Wonder if he's got a preference, or would either female do??!!
Have a great week - I'm slowly getting closer to that guest post ...
Beautiful picture with a sad meaning

Jim, that's sad news about the birds but you captured them beautifully with your photos.
Lovely image. I guess all we can hope is that the next generation of birds is very hardy.
Beautiful picture Jim. Sad to hear about them though.
