A very cooling and refreshing dip for my mate Reg and I, and our taxi driver at Galvan's Gorge, arrived at by taking a side trip off the Gibb River Road, in the Kimberley Area of Western Australia.
Taxi driver? Did someone ask what we were doing swimming there with our very own taxi driver?
Yeah. We had a taxi driver to drive us for 9 days the full length of the Gibb River Road! Doesn't everyone do that?
Reg and I were selected from all the New Zealand applicants for Leg 10 of Tourism Western Australia's massive Extraordinary Taxi Ride promotion. 9 weeks covering the entire State broken into 11 legs with Doug the taxi driver having a new pair of passengers for each leg. Reg and I were on the best leg exploring the most scenic part of Western Australia,
Bear with me while I tell you how we entered the competition.
I had been researching volunteer opportunities with Biospheres Expeditions Turtle Conservation Project
That is a project I still have bookmarked to go on. Such an essential project to collect more data for us to understand what is happening to cause declines in marine turtle numbers.
I googled more info on Western Australia, bringing up their competition launch announcement. The runes were thrown, the omens were good, we entered, we won!
But now I'm planning to get back to that part of Western Australia, and the turtle Project is looking good to me!

Glad you cleared that up about the taxi! Looks like a wonderful spot -- perfect as a "serenity" subject.
