The Rose.

The child you once nurtured, the one you loved best
You deserted their mother, you left them bereft
The flowers you once tended you let them fade away
Life in this garden withered and died on that day.

This emotional forest you planted that day
Your child is now wandering and heading astray
The wounds you created, the dagger to their heart
Caused so much unrest tearing them far apart.

Your flower is now struggling, withering away
The garden is now drying to an emotional desert
The garden you planted, the rose you loved best
Its red velvet petals are falling, embracing death.

It's brittle dry branches are slowly breaking down
There needs to be sustenance drawn from barren ground
The flowers you once tended, the love you took away
Life in this garden withered and lies in decay.

The rose you neglected struggles in stony ground
Seeking, not knowing, how to set strong roots down
Your tender caring is needed each day
When this rose finally blooms, she'll take your breath away.
